In the Fall of 1924, the college music program began under the energetic and creative leadership of the choral director, Miss Lula Claire Parmley. As Chairman of the Music Department (retired , 1950) she has not only added many new courses to the curricular offerings but also had made it one of the most outstanding music departments in the entire state. As the director of many musical comedies and light operas, and as co-director with Katharine Kester in "Gloria" traditional Christmas Choral Play, she has contributed greatly to the cultural assets of the city. Miss Parmley's last production at PCC was a Spring music festival held on the evening of April 21, featuring opera highlights."
